I have worked in social care and education since graduating from University. I have worked in residential care settings for adults and children, day centres, outreach projects, FE colleges teaching access to nursing & social work, as well as BTEC courses in health & social care and childcare. I have also been a local authority approved foster carer and supported lodgings provider and continue to stay in touch with a handful of the girls placed with me.
I have experience of working with individuals with a range of support needs; mental health problems, learning disabilities, drug & alcohol dependency, physical disabilities and sensory impairments.
I have worked in residential childcare for the past eight years, as the Registered Manager, but more recently as the Responsible Individual for a new company. I enjoy working with young people and the challenges that they bring to the table, but equally enjoy heading up teams with a shared goal of wanting to provide stability and good quality care to young people. I strive for the young people in my care to have a chance of a childhood, an opportunity to feel valued, to experience positive outcomes across all aspects of their lives and to become the good people of tomorrow.
I really enjoy swimming – in a pool, in the sea or a lake, and I have been known to dabble with ice-baths. I like caravan holidays, going to the theatre, reading and spending time with my niblings!
