Course Description: 

This course has been designed to support professionals working with children and young people in care. It will cover the various frameworks and structures of support offered by local authorities, with the aim of simplifying the processes and systems in place.

It will also give attendees the basic knowledge and tools needed to discuss post-16 educational options with young people and social workers, and to help support their decision-making process.

This course is suitable for foster carers, residential staff and managers, post 16 services and anyone with responsibility for supporting young people with accessing education, training and employment.

This course is delivered by an experienced trainer Vicki Lefevre, who is currently working as a Responsible Individual in a children’s home, has previously worked as a college lecturer and a foster carer/ supported lodgings provider. Vicki has an excellent understanding of the educational barriers faced by young people in care and the opportunities available to them. She is a strong advocate for working with the team around the child to find solutions!
